05
Political Advocacy
At North Haven, we’re not just advocating for change—we’re driving it. We're working alongside influential Oklahoma legislators, including Representative Nicole Miller, co-chair of the Disability Caucus, to push for meaningful reforms that will create a state that genuinely supports children with disabilities and their families. Our efforts extend far beyond policy—we’re mobilizing the community, amplifying the voices of families, and ensuring that their concerns are heard loud and clear at the state capitol.
When we raised our voices against SB1017, the bill was pulled because of the powerful impact we made. This is just one example of how we’re using our influence to advocate for change, and we’re not stopping there. By collaborating with lawmakers, organizations, and other advocates, we’re pushing for policies that prioritize inclusivity, accessibility, and stronger support systems for families in Oklahoma.
We’re committed to ensuring that our state is not only responsive to the needs of autistic and neurodivergent children but is actively making progress toward a more equitable and supportive future for all families.

Summer Wood
Support Needs Parent + Advocate
Summer is the founder of North Haven, a compassionate coaching practice and advocacy organization dedicated to helping others feel safe, seen, heard, and protected as they embark on a journey to find clarity, rekindle their passion, and move forward with confidence. As a full-time working mother to an autistic 6-year-old son and a vibrant 5-year-old daughter, Summer understands the challenges of balancing family, personal growth, and career. With the support of her husband, Haydon, she has navigated the ups and downs of life with strength and grace, including the unique journey of raising an autistic child.
In addition to her coaching work, Summer is an active political advocate, working tirelessly to make Oklahoma a more inclusive state for families of children with disabilities. She is currently mobilizing the community and collaborating with legislators to oppose SB1017, a bill that threatens the rights of these families. Summer has recently proposed a new bill to legislators designed to create stronger protections and more inclusive policies for children with disabilities in Oklahoma and their families.
Summer combines her personal experiences, professional expertise, and advocacy efforts to guide others in overcoming burnout, finding direction, and creating a life they love.
